Dr. Vitthalrao B. Khyade is a Zoology teacher at Shardabai Pawar Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Shardanagar, Malegaon Baramati (ADT, Baramati). He earned his M.Sc. from Shivaji University, Kolhapur (1985) and Ph.D. (2004) on the use of juvenoid compounds in silkworm rearing. Founder of the Career Oriented Programme in Sericulture, he pioneered innovations such as topical application of plant extractives and terpenes to silkworm larvae for improved silk yield—adopted by Bharathiar University, Tamil Nadu. His research spans sericulture, herbal compounds, cancer treatment (Moracin, mulberry extracts), and biodiesel. With over 150 publications, including collaborations with Nobel Laureates, he has guided numerous Ph.D. and M.Phil. scholars.Dr. Khyade has received multiple honors: Scientist of the Year (2016), Best Educationist Award (2017), Nelson Mandela Excellence Award (2018), World Championship Award (2019), and Intellectual of the Year (2019), among others. He is also active in science popularization through Dr. APIS-Science-Spectrum and Dr. APIS-Social-Spectrum.
