Biography

Since 1995, Prof. Philippe Laval-Gilly (University of Lorraine) studies organismal defense mechanisms—primarily immunological—against pathogens and environmental contaminants. His research includes phytoremediation of degradedContaminated soils, using Miscanthus x giganteus (MXG) as a model plant to combine biomass production, soil restoration, and pollutant removal. Additionally, he investigates how phytosanitary products disrupt the immune systems of pollinators and humans, potentially worsening pathogen impacts. The work bridges ecology, immunology, and sustainable agriculture, addressing both environmental contamination and health risks.
