Biography

Dr. Bello Sani Haliru is a plant breeder and geneticist at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), Nigeria. He earned his Bachelor of Agriculture from UDUS in 2006, joined the university's teaching staff in 2008, and obtained an M.Sc. in Crop Science with specialization in Plant Breeding and Genetics from UDUS in 2013. He completed his PhD at Universiti Putra Malaysia, where his research included strategies for detecting and improving brown planthopper resistance genes in rice. He has published more than 20 articles in local and international journals on the improvement of maize, rice, cowpea, groundnut and underutilized crops, and has presented papers at numerous conferences, workshops and webinars.
