Title: Contributions of farmer field and business school ffbs on productivity of rice farmers: Some evidence from zamfara state of nigeria

Abstract

The present research study was carried out in Gusau and Bungudu LGA of Zamfara State of Nigeria regarding the contributions of Famers field and business school on productivity of rice farmers in the above study area. The study is representing the preparation of farmers, extension agents and the general public. A total sample of 80 was selected using simple random techniques primary data was collected through a structured interview schedule administered on respondents. Data was analyzed using arithmetic means, frequencies, percentages and descriptive statistics. The major conclusion drawn from the  study were: perception regarding effectiveness of FFBS in training of farmers revealed that 15 (18.7%), 23 (31.2%) and 10 (12.5%) reported helping farmers to learn new ways of doing things in their farms knowing the effectiveness of extension agent and linking farmers to input supply. Survey result regarding the farmers effectiveness of FFBS in improving farmers knowledge indicates that 15 (18.7%), 26 (32.5%) and 22 (27.5%) of the respondents reported land preparation, planting practices and conduct of AESA respectively. A total of 13 (16.2%) and 8 (22.5%), 9 (11.2%) and 30 (37.5%) agreed on Eco-friendly on the weeding and control of pest methods, better use of preservation methods and use of organic manure respectively. On the basis of the above conclusion the following recommendations are made. 1 there must be regular knowledge sharing between extension agents an intermediaries who interact with farmers. 2 farmers need more support on achieving efficiency into the production activities. 3 in order to support FFBS effectiveness extension approaches should use extension resources to assists in the development of independent client organization. Finally special attention should be given to women FFBS because gender sensitive training can enhance productivity and effectiveness of women Agric. Business skills.
