The “Cultivating Innovation in Agriculture and Horticulture” sector faces global challenges like food security, climate change, resource efficiency, and sustainable rural development. Recently, farmers and food producers have been concerned about the increasing resistance of pests and diseases. Chemical pesticides are often effective. It causes residual toxicity. On the other hand, as global temperatures rise, rainfall patterns change, and extreme weather events become more frequent, leaving pests and plant pathogens to thrive in ways that disrupt traditional farming practices. Therefore, it needs to focus on transformative solutions that address global challenges, such as food security, climate change, resource efficiency, and sustainable rural development, for overall well-being. The main focus is to safeguard human health, protect ecosystems, and ensure the long-term viability of agricultural systems. Primarily, it has been observed that the use of plant parts or the whole plant or a plant itself as BioMedicines in human beings, agriculture and horticulture is effective as a preventive against diseases that trigger a natural immune response in humans, and 'Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR)' in plants, to defend against pathogens before infection occurs.
To overcome it, the main objective is to confirm the impact of ‘BioMedicines Midday Meal (BMM)’ among school children and the guardian community of Kanchannagar, Burdwan, West Bengal, India, collected from the 'Nutritional Kitchen Garden' for “Understanding National Education Policy 2020 & 2023 of India through "Project-Based-Learning Gardening Eco-System for Nutrition, School Health, Nutritious Food Science and Technology, and well-being” through “Cultivating Innovation in Agriculture and Horticulture" in School Campus.
Here, multiple plans, such as vegetables and fruit plants, are cultivated that are intercropped. The plants are amaranth, cucumber, cowpea, and okra, infected with root-knot and Mosaic Virus pathogens that cause plant diseases.
After harvesting of these intercropped four plants, amaranth and cucumber received the maximum infection in terms of root galls and mosaic virus. The lowest infection occurs in okra. On the other hand, amaranth, okra, cowpea, and cucumber from the nutritional garden are used as biomedicines in the ‘Mid-Day Meal menu to measure the impact of the 'PM POSHAN Scheme and have various positive impacts, such as on growth, obesity, malnutrition, colds, cold and flu, and eye diseases.
The multiple intercropping of 4-biomedicinal plants (Weeds, Vegetables, and Fruits) proves to be an effective BioMedicine against diseases in agriculture and horticulture. It also acts as Cost-Effective, Eco-Friendly, Sustainable Biomedicines. The farmers would be doubly benefited; by controlling diseases, and by marketing. The ‘BioMedicines Midday Meal (BMM)’ also protects students from measles, polio, chickenpox, and hepatitis B by improving natural immunity.
It fulfils the main theme “Cultivating Innovation in Agriculture and Horticulture,” ICAH 2026 focuses on transformative solutions that address global challenges such as food security, climate change, resource efficiency, and sustainable rural development. It will also provide a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas, sharing cutting-edge research, exploring sustainable solutions, and fostering collaborations among academia, industry, policymakers, and innovators. Now, we can say, "BioMedicines Act as Preventive Booster Vaccine against Diseases, Improving Agriculture and Horticulture".
